A Closer Look: The Shaunte Robinson Story

Mission statement:

"Expanding the options that change the odds for children and families of at-risk children and families in Broward County."

Shaunte Robinson was pregnant with her 7th child and trapped in an abusive relationship. Feeling hopeless, she packed her bags and children and fled her home in Kentucky for a new start in Florida. Once in Florida, she was only met with more challenges while staying with friends: an eviction and pre-term labor.

But Shante was determined to turn things around.

She ended up securing part-time employment and was connected with CBCI. Once connected, she was assigned a Parent Partner who helped her secure an apartment and new furniture for her apartment, including living room and dining room furniture, pots, pans, beds, bedding for each of her children and clothes.

Settled into her new apartment and her personal life blossoming - Shaunte received a new position as a Licensed Practical Nurse, making $75,000 a year.

We work so hard for these moments - and families like Shaunte's are why we're asking for your support.

In just the last year, CBCI has:

  • Poured over $2.8 million of resources and support into Broward County's children and families
  • Serviced over 3k people through our direct services, events, and outreach
  • Created a health and resource hub in Pompano, free and open to the community
  • Provided over 2550 hours of in-home case management support services
  • Provided over 60k in rental and utility assistance and
  • Helped 57 fathers secure employment

CBCI touches close to 5,000 at-risk children and families on any given day through our programs, but we cannot do this alone. Together, we can expand the options that change the odds and expand our reach and capacity to serve the children and families of Broward County and beyond!

Can the children and families we serve count on YOU?
